2009 List of Accomplishments

Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee, Inc, an Officially Recognized Friends Organization, is pleased to announce a successful 2009 year in accomplishments.

A total of only 52 hard working volunteers devoted 4,750.5 hours of service to the Committee by working on many projects:

Trail Maintenance at Parvin State Park: 790 Hrs
Assisting Eagle Scouts with Parvin Grove Project 349 Hrs
Assisting Eagle Scouts with Parvin Council Ring Project 391 Hrs
Annual Halloween Event 790 Hrs
Upgrading and Maintenance at Danna Property 560.5 Hrs
Other projects include: 2,146 Hrs
Administration
Community Service
Hepner’s Field Pipe Replacement
Open Space Project
Parvin Beach Sand Project
Butterfly Field Project
Parvin Geese Deterrent Project

The Committee is in dire need of additional volunteers to continue its’ mission of dedication to promoting the use of Parvin State Park by the public, to educating visitors on the park’s rich history and to supporting park projects and maintenance through available funding.

Disney Give a Day has Offically ENDED!

Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee has been successfully participating in the “Give A Day – Get A Disney Day” program. The Hands-On Network Partners has announced that the program will come to a close very shortly. The goal of celebrating 1,000,000 volunteers is expected to occur very soon.

Effective immediately no new applications will be accepted and all flexible volunteer opportunities and the ability to search for participating organizations have been removed from www.DisneyParks.com.

Parvin Appreciation Committee, a user of 1-800-Volunteer/Volunteer Solutions at Volunteer Opportunity Portal (http://VOP.HandsOnNetwork.org) will still be able to post date and time-specific opportunities. Once Disney reaches its one-million ticket goal, the program will end entirely and the Committee will no longer be able to post any new volunteer opportunities of any kind. Please contact the Committee at 856-692-0036 for opportunities that may still be available at Parvin State Park.

Only volunteers who have completed the registration and signed up for a specific date and time to volunteer “before” the program ends will receive their Disney vouchers after their service has been verified.

Committee teams with Disney

Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee is participating with the Hands On Network in the “Give A Day – Get A Disney Day” program. By volunteering and working with the Committee for the betterment of Parvin State Park, you can qualify for a FREE 1-Day, 1-Theme Park ticket to the Disneyland Resort® or Walt Disney World® Resort!

Parvin Appreciation Committee has received a tremendous response of over 200 volunteers who have already signed up to work with the Committee at Parvin State Park. The Committee has scheduled 25 volunteers for each monthly work day up to March 2010. Currently there are still limited slots open for the months of April and May. Volunteers will be used to help the Committee complete outstanding projects at Parvin State Park already in the pipeline, which includes trail maintenance & upgrades, and assisting the Committee to spruce up the Danna property - the Committee’s new headquarters!

You must sign up to volunteer and complete your service with The Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee. Minimum age requirement for volunteering with the Committee is 10 years old, accompanied by an adult. Parvin State Park 80th Anniversary Memorabilia Collection!

Pittsgrove, NJ: Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee is gearing up to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Parvin State Park, Pittsgrove, NJ in 2011!

The Committee is asking the public to submit Parvin State Park pictures, videos, news clippings and any memorabilia involving camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, special events and former employee photos to assist the Committee in setting up new exhibits for the celebration!

Items can be mailed to or dropped off at the Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee operations center: 846 Almond Road, Building “A”, Pittsgrove, NJ 08318. Please include owner information: name, telephone number, e-mail and mailing addresses.

Items will be returned after event, unless permission is granted by the owner for the Committee to retain item(s) as exhibits in the future Parvin State Park Museum.
