ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Over the years the Committee has made many improvements to the park, not only monetary and physical additions but also historical research and preservation. All of the improvements and accomplishments below are of benefit to the park and the general public.
2008
-Eagle Scout Project to redo bulkhead at the boathouse
-Major repairs to the boathouse (fixing of the chimney and regrading of the area)
-Repairs of boathouse flagpole
-Installation of metal roadway gates
-Installation of new park boundary signs
-Assistance in the acquisition of the 30 acre Danna Property adjacent to Thundergust Picnic area
2007
-Eagle Scout project to landscape the gazebo at Flag Island
-Eagle Scout project to renovate the bulkhead at the CCC constructed boathouse at Parvin Grove (ongoing)
2006
-Design and installation of four wayside exhibits showing historical sites within the park
-Researched and rewrote history of the park
2005
-Updated 3-D display of the original CCC Camp
-Working on preservation of 30 acres adjacent to Thundergust Picnic Area (ongoing)
-Spearheaded purchase of 340 acres of open space on the North side of Almond Rd (Greenberg Property)
-Eagle Scout project to install walkway from the gazebo at Flag Island to Parvin Lake Trail
2004
-Eagle Scout project to replace footbridge on Knoll Trail, South section
2003
-Replacement of 20 ft section of drain pipe under the Forest Road Loop Trail
-Purchase of commemorative sign for Thundergust Cabin Area recognizing the CCC
2002
-Scout Troop project to replace two footbridges with one specially designed bridge on the Knoll Trail, North Section
-Eagle Scout project to replace historic fishing dock at Thundergust Lake
2001
-Restoration and display of original CCC camp sign
-Purchase and installation of commemorative signs for Morton Ave recognizing the CCC
2000
-Assisted in the funding to purchase an AED for the park
1999
-Purchase of a portable GPS unit and software for the Ranger staff
-Purchase of a commercial push mower and 3 point brush mower for the maintenance staff
-Eagle Scout project to replace drain pipe under Parvin Lake Trail
1998
-Establishment of History of Parvin slide program
1996
-Establishment of a state inmate work detail for the park
1995
-Purchase and installation of trail markers
1993
-Restoration of the CCC flagpole at Parvin Grove boathouse
-Purchase of dryline machine for the ball fields
1992
-Coordinated on-site meeting with DEP Commissioner Weiner, which reversed the decision to close ten state parks due to budget cuts
1991
-Purchase and installation of six trail blazer signs
1989
-Installation of park directional signs on State Highway 55 at exits 32 and 35
1983
- Held first and largest CCC 50th Anniversary reunion in the state
